Pilot Project: Inkio

Unleash the informal sector

Video coming soon

The story

Low-skilled workers fight unbearable odds to survive. The resourcefulness, faith and courage it takes to show up to low-paid jobs —and meet fluctuating respect with grace– is unfathomable to anyone not in those shoes.

With that resourcefulness, faith and courage, informal entrepreneurs only need the right springboard to start thriving.

We want to enable anyone to run a thriving informal business with a smartphone.

The platform

Inkio is a set of tools and services for informal businesses, for use on any smart phone.

The platform offers basic business management tools, marketing, business education, and financial services, designed to enable and leverage community dynamics.

The aim is to “bridge the gap” that keeps sustainable work and growth at bay.

As we see it, this starts with making it safer to do business in and with the informal sector.

The ethics

Inkio is an enabler, not an intermediary.
We are social innovators, not a charity.

We provide the tools, entrepreneurs do the business, and their use of our services bring a small percentage in - we’re aiming for as low as 1% commission fee.

This means we can only be successful if we enable a lot of people - which can only happen if our services add real value and do not take away from their energy and intent.

Our commitment is to only be as financially successful
as we are socially impactful.
